RİZE’DE VATAN CEPHESİ

Türk siyasal hayatında kutuplaşmanın önemli örneklerinden birisi Vatan Cephesi olayıdır. 1957 genel seçimlerinin ardından oylarını artıran CHP’nin başını çektiği muhalefetin ortak tavır sergilemesi ve iktidarı kışkırtıcı söylemleri, DP’nin harekete çekmesine Başbakan Adnan Menderes’in “Nifak Cephesi” diye tanımladığı muhalefete karşı Cephesi’ni kurmasına yol açtı. 12 Ekim 1958 tarihli konuşması ile başlayan 27 Mayıs 1960 günü gerçekleşen askeri müdahaleye kadar yaklaşık 20 ay devam eden bu süreçte partiler arası kıyasıya bir çekişme yaşandı. Bu rekabet, halkın daha fazla politize olmasına ayrışmasına neden oldu. çalışmada Rize vilayetinde kurma faaliyetleri irdelenmiştir. halkının geçiş nedenlerine değinilmiştir. İktidar muhalefet teşkilatlarının yoğun olarak yürüttüğü dönemki faaliyetler sonucunda Rize’de Cephesi’ne katılımın, dolayısıyla DP’ye iltihakların çok olduğu görülmüştür. Halkın yöneliminde çağrısının etkili olmasının yanı sıra muhalif partilerin birleşmesinin de tesiri olmuştur. CHP dışında özellikle son iki seçimde vilayette arttıran CMP’den gözlemlenmiştir.
